ABOUT THE POTTER

My Love of Pottery

I was raised on a small farm in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia with my family. I learned at an early age that anything “home grown” or “handmade” brings more enjoyment and a much greater satisfaction to life. My life on a small, working farm has influenced the functional nature and rustic look of my work.

I have been drawn to the warmth and usefulness of pottery for many years, and I finally had the opportunity to begin taking night classes about 13 years ago while I was working full time in a finance position. I have been creating part-time since I retired from my day job in 2016.

Each piece of Blue Goose Pottery is thrown on my pottery wheel or hand constructed in my studio on our family farm in Berkeley County, West Virginia.  My work is fired in an electric kiln to about 2200 degrees.  I focus on functional, durable, well-made pottery that can be used and enjoyed every day, not just on special occasions! I hope my pieces bring you as much joy as creating them brings to me……I hope you find something that speaks to you!
